Teenager summers

By: Lucy Doherty

I remember the sun warming my back I remember kicking the earth I remember watching the dust clouds rise And holding my breath until they settled I remember lying with you in the grass I remember brushing away the bugs that crawled up your legs I remember shielding our eyes from the light Even though we don’t do that anymore I remember the warmth of your laughter But my favorite memory is yet to come

Lucy is 16, a poet, and a singer. She's an aspiring librarian and community organizer. If she's "known" for anything, it's for her involvement in her local choral community. She writes about cryptozoology at screamcometrue.tumblr.com, and her Poetry Jam chapbook "Secrets" can be found there.
